As well as a writer, I’m also a children’s and YA book editor. I have more than a decade’s experience working in-house and freelance, and enjoy all aspects of the editorial process. My particular areas of interest are contemporary YA and middle grade, verse novels, and all kinds of picture books. I am currently open to work. You can contact me through my webform.
Development edits and structural reports
Here’s where I take a wide view of the manuscript, offering a detailed report that covers theme, plot, characterisation, dialogue, flow and more. I hope to guide the author into the next stage of editing with confidence and enthusiasm.
Copyediting
The copyedit is the exciting, roll-your-sleeves-up stage. I’ll go line by line and make suggestions for tone, consistency, word choices, dialogue, and repetition repetition. I will always be sure to respect the authorial voice and intentions.
Proofreading
I have exceptional attention to detail, close knowledge of the Australian Style Manual, and am experienced proofreading with voice as well as grammar at front of mind. I love the quiet focus of proofreading. All genres, all ages.
